Thunderbird Graduation

December 16, 2011.  I couldn't be more proud of Craig.  What a crazy year and a 1/2 it has been but it's over and YES!! we did it.  I say we because it was a joint effort. It's not easy being a full time grad student at Thunderbird but it's not easy being a single mom either.  At least I got to sleep at night though.  I'm not sure if Craig has gotten a good nights sleep in months.  He's been up writing papers or studying for a project or test or applying to jobs or researching companies. This last trimester was especially difficult with me being very pregnant, more demanding classes for Craig, and all the Career fairs, job applications/interviews, and fly backs.  He has flown more in the last 3 months then the rest of his life combined ... too bad it wasn't with the same airline or we could have racked up a decent amount of  frequent flyer miles.  And now it's over and I'm so proud of what he has accomplished.  He has been wanting to go to Thunderbird School of Global Management (top International Business School in the World) for a long time and I am amazed at all the work he did to just get accepted ...  and now he is Alumni.  We have met some amazing people along the way and I know that Craig will miss all his great friends that he has spent numerous hours studying, and joking around with.  I love you, Craig, with all my heart!!  Congratulations!!

Craig with some of his good friends here: Joe, Kristi, Jesse, and Wells.
Brooke layed on the floor most of the time but she did fantastic when Craig walked across the stage - she yelled as loud as she could " GO DADDY!!".  Everyone turned around and laughed - it was pretty hilarious.
The Ceremony was very interesting.  Usually I hate going to graduations because they are boring and I thought I would be entertaining kids the whole time.  Because this was an international school they had a graduating student representative from each country hold their nations flag and talk briefly about something interesting from where they come from.  It was very entertaining.  Some of them were quite funny.  Of course I did have to do some entertaining with the kids but mostly Nani & Grandpa took care of that.  It was very much appreciated.  Brooke made a mess with crackers on the floor and used her necklace to tie around her doll like a leash.  What a nut.  Jace played with his plane most of the time. Jace wasn't even suppose to be attending since it was during school hours but came because he had gotten SUSPENDED from school for a day.  You know how I had said that he better get a good mark on his calendar on the last post I did - instead I got a call from the principal saying that we needed to pick him up because he had been suspended.  I was FURIOUS!!  Seriously,  WHO gets suspended in 1st grade .... Jace.   :(  After talking with the principal and his teacher I felt a little better.  Apparently he tackled some boys at recess.  One of them skinned his arm.  Jace said they had started it and the other boys said it was unprovoked.  Later after sitting in the office for 20 minutes Jace said "I think I lied".  I found out that one of the boys was in our ward.  I felt horrible.  Jace made sorry cards for the boys and then we went over to his house.  His mom said the whole thing was overblown and it should have just been something where they shake each others hands and say sorry in the playground.  That also made me feel a little better.  Jace felt REALLY guilty and sad at how be had behaved.  I know that he needs a break from school.  I actually really regret putting him in Kindergarten this year.  He has a late summer birthday and is the youngest in his class.  He is doing wonderfully with reading but just isn't quite mature enough to stay focused for a full day of school. He thinks it's more fun to be the class clown and make tooter noises during class time or daydream about fighter jets.  Oh well ... if we end up moving we may hold him back.  Back to Craig's Graduation...
