County Fair

If you don't like the county fair you're crazy. Good eats, entertainment, rides, and all sorts of other fun things. We took another trip with Genevieve and her kiddos to . . . you guessed it . . . the county fair. I'm loving the fact that she had a week off of her busy out of town summer schedule to hang out with the kids and I. We checked out the animals first: Cows, Rabbits, Sheep, Goats, Pigeons, Chickens, Llamas, and Alpacas. They also had a lot of exotic animals as well like Tigers, Sharks, and Alligators. Brooke loved petting the animals. (Don't worry I kept her fingers away from the ones with sharp teeth.) She would just light up with joy and giggle like crazy. She loves animals. Jace was a little more cautious. He liked watching the animals from a distance but kind of freaked out if they got too close. He also kept running out in front of us and was not following directions about staying close to me. He got lost in one of exhibits and I was really worried because there were crowds upon crowds of people there. I finally found him in with the chickens looking very scared. I scooped him up and he said "I was looking at a chicken and you left me" then he gave me the sad look with those big brown eyes of his. I felt horrible. I thought he would be a better listener about staying close after that but I guess it didn't sink in. We stopped for lunch and had corn dogs and a big pile of curly fries. Then we watched a dog jumping competition an amazing juggler and hit the rides. We had a great day at the fair. Thanks for inviting us Genevieve!

Here is Genevieve displaying a prize winning cow bum.

Jace, Gavin, and Nolan hangin' out by the Llamas and Alpacas. Just in case you were wondering - the difference between Llamas and Alpacas is that the Llamas are mostly used like pack horses and the Alpacas are used for their soft hair. Just a fun fact for the day.

Here is Genevieve and the boys grinding dried corn kernels into cornmeal. They even gave the boys a little bag of their ground up cornmeal to take home to make cornbread with. It was very interesting. The boys also got to make their own rope using some old farm equipment too.

Brookie loved petting the goats.

The boys LOVED the cars ride!

At the end of a long day . .

. . . may I present the whole fair going group: Jace,Heather, Brooke, Gavin, Genevieve, and Nolan. By the way, Genevieve, I'm loving the look on your face! :)

Hey pretty girl, looks fun! I couldn't help but notice that you had sweaters on in most of the pictures. Weird. It is like 110+ degrees here. I wish it would cool down a little! Good job on blogging all your fun activities! You rock!

Fun!!! Our fair is next week. I'm thinking of putting a watercolor painting in it. Did you get to see any art work? Glad you guys are having fun.

Sweaters in August?! I am so jealous. We have our fair coming right up and I can assure you that we won't be wearing jackets or sweaters.

Actually it's really weird because we have had record high weather here latety. 107' + humidity but the day we went to the county fair it was super overcast and much cooler. It has been a HOT summer though.
