Japanese Gardens

We were able to visit the Japanese Gardens in Portland, OR and although it was very tranquil and beautiful I now know not to bring the kids next time we come here. Anything off the path is forbidden to walk on so of course every chance Jace got he was tromping on the moss in the off limits zone. It ended up being more stressful then tranquil for us. The kids did love looking at the gigantic fish in the pond and it was quite funny when Craig mistook a decorative fountain for the drinking fountain and was gulping down water from it. Some lady was looking at him like he was crazy and then a few minutes later we found the actual drinking fountain and he felt pretty dumb.

Craig needed to get some study time in so after the Japanese Gardens we walked down past the Rose Gardens to the kids park. I chased the kids around for 45 minutes in the heat of the day while he got some study time in. The kids had a blast there and they didn't slow down for a second. We dined at Macaroni Grill for lunch and were totally burned out by the time we got home. Craig wasn't feeling that well after drinking the algae water so we just hung out on the couch and watched Chronicles of Narnia for the first time as a family. What a day.

Here are the kids playing at the park:
