Camping at Kolob

We're back down in the Southern UT heat again.  Grandpa Johnson promised these little kiddos that he would take them camping so we did just that last Friday night.  We hooked up the tent trailer to the jeep and headed up to Kolob Reservoir.  It was much cooler and just beautiful!  I love the mountains.... and Kolob is about as good as it gets down here.  After we set up camp we went on a hike around part of the lake.  Jace of course jumped in a huge mud puddle wearing the only tennis shoes that I packed for him and before I knew it both he and Brooke were knee deep in the lake completely dressed.  They had to go the rest of the trip without shoes.  Kids will be kids.  Camping was so much fun ... except the part about having a bush as a bathroom.  That I could do without.  Jace and Brooke gathered lots of firewood.  It was funny to watch them try to carry it all at once.  Brooke had a huge armful and would drop one, lean down and pick it up and another one would fall so she would pick that one up and then another would fall ... she didn't get very far before needing help.  Grandpa started a fire and we roasted hotdogs and marshmallows.  The kids were in heaven.  They loved every second.  Before going to bed we all took turns telling stories.  Grandpa told a bear story about Old Ephraim and Brooke wanted to sing Mary had a little lamb over and over.  I tried to tell Brooke not to drink too much water because I knew I would have to take her outside to the bush bathroom in the dark.  Of course she did have to go so we took the lantern and she peed all over her pants.  It's tough being a girl sometimes.  I was just glad that I didn't have to go my usual 2-3 times being pregnant and all.  Speaking of which - drum roll .... I'm now in my second trimester - YEAH!!  The nauseousness is dwindling as long as I'm still taking my medicine regularly and I'm getting some energy back.  We were going to have pancakes, eggs, and bacon for breakfast but we forgot to pack any utensils or a pancake flipper so we packed up in a hurry and were back home before 10am and Grandpa made a huge yummy breakfast.  When we had gotten in the jeep it said it was 61degrees and by the time we got back home it was 95degrees.  WOW!  We had a super fun trip.  My kids are little campers now and they want to go again.

We had to take one in front on the Bear Country sign because Jace didn't believe us.

Looks like so much fun! I wish there was a good camping ground near us here. I keep waiting to see if you're out of the country yet. I hope you are feeling a little better by now, and much better before you leave! Miss you guys!
