Silver Dollar City

We were lucky enough to score some free friend passes to Silver Dollar City through a family friend in our church ward.  We couldn't pass up free tickets to an amusement park with a 7 and 9 yr old.  They would have never forgiven us.  We decided to just do a half day at the park and let the husbands work a half day and ended up leaving around lunch time.  Had I known that it closed at 6 I would have pushed for a full day though.  4 hrs wasn't long enough when you are driving 2 hrs there and back.  It was pretty hot and muggy so we tried to cool off the best we could in their splash pad area and air conditioned ball room.  We did the newer area together and then rode the train together and then split up for the last hour.  Craig took the big kids to ride the big coasters and I had the littles in the kiddie park area.  Ty LOVED riding the frog, caterpillar, and ladybug.  He was giggling like crazy and kept sticking his tongue out in pure joy.  It was hilarious to watch.  The big kids rode Outlaw Run which is the worlds 2nd steepest wooden roller coaster. Well, actually Jace and daddy rode that one.  Poor Brookie.  They waited in line and when they got to the front they wouldn't let her ride because she was just slightly too short.  If she hadn't chopped her hair off we could have put a bun on the top of her head like we did at Lagoon.  They gave her a special pass that allows her to go the front of the line when she is tall enough to ride.  They got through it quick enough that they got to ride the white water rapids before the park closed.  What a fun day.  I was really appreciative of the Herb family for letting tag along with them for free.  I have some pretty awesome friends here.

After a fun filled day we considered buying season passes in the future.  It's open for 9 months out of the year and you can bring a buddy with each season pass so basically I could buy one for myself and get Craig in, and then buy one for Jace and get Brooke in.  Ty and Jenni were free.  We talked seriously about it until about 1/2 hour into our 2 hour trek home.  NOPE!!  One of our children teases anyone they sit next to and basically made the trip a nightmare.  Can you guess who that adorable little youngster is?!?  Would we really want to put ourselves through that on a weekly or monthly basis.  No WAY!! So good bye Silver Dollar City.  You were fun but we may not ever see you again.  At least not until our kids can travel together in a confined space without driving us crazy.
