Blueberry Picking

Every summer we go berry picking.  It's one of my favorite things about summer.  I love waking up early and being outside in the early morning hours.  It's the best time of the day.  Today we dropped off Craig and Jace at the airport for their trip to Peru and headed directly from there to Fisher's Blueberry patch which is past Gravette in the middle of nowhere .  I'm talking dirt roads for miles.  Brooke was a great helper. We met some friends from our church ward and they picked together and helped watch Jenni the wanderer.  Blueberry picking was NOT Ty's favorite thing.  First of all, he doesn't even like blueberries so the whole eat while you pick wasn't helping him out at all and it was hot.  I finally ended up grabbing some water, toy cars and a blanket from our car and he entertained himself with that in the shade for a while. There was also some penned in animals that he was entertained by.  Jenni picked and ate her weight in blueberries and kept trying to snag handfuls from my bucket.  It reminded me of the kid's book Blueberries for Sal.  "Plink, Plank, Plunk." We ended up picking about 20lbs of berries which is great because they are pesticide free and we can freeze them and use them in recipes or the kids can eat them plain as a frozen treat.  Yay for blueberries!!

Your kids are growing up so fast when we don't get to see them. What a fun activity! I love that book Blueberries for Sal. Glad you didn't run into any Bears!
