Labor Day w/ the Larson Family

One of our near and dear Arizona families, Kyle & Tiffany Larson, from our Thunderbird days came to visit us for Labor day.  They had moved to Oklahoma City about a year ago so it wasn't too far of a drive.  They came Sunday evening and we feasted on home made - cafe rio pork salads, went on a walk with the kiddos, and chatted until the wee hours of the morning.  On Labor day we took them Crystal Bridges Art Museum.  We walked some of the trails and had fun in the kid's craft section.  They wanted to really experience Arkansas cuisine so we took them to "The Flying Fish" restaurant for lunch.  It's about as authentic as it gets here in NWA.  The workers wear shirts that say "We catch and release..." on the front and "into real hot grease." on the back. lol.  nice!  My favorite sign posted on their wall reads, "Unsupervised children will be given a free puppy and a shot of espresso."  You can order Gumbo, Frog legs, Gruper, Catfish, Jambalaya, Oysters, etc ...  We enjoyed some fried shrimp, fries, hushpuppies, and bread pudding.  They were a little more adventurous and got a whole fried catfish meal, and the Gumbo.  Poor Eric cried when his food arrived.  It wasn't the chicken nuggets he was expecting.  lol. After that we took them to the town square and let them walk through the 5 & Dime and Wal-Mart Museum.  We were all pretty exhausted by that point so we headed back to the house and let the kids run wild while we all took turns taking naps.  Then we introduced them to the awesomeness of America Ninja Warrior.  It was a lovely weekend spent in good company.  Yay for visitors!!

Stopping to pose on one of the trails at Crystal Bridges...

The kids had fun getting wet in one of the creeks.

Statue of Mr. Piggy.  I think he looks like Wilbur.

Tiffany approves of the awesomeness of the FLYING FISH. :)
You have to admire a restaurant with the first billy bass adoption center.

The whole crew enjoying our Southern spread.

Ellie loved the catfish.  She even ate the bones.

So good to see old friends!!
