Christmas is in the air . .

. .at least at our house. Jace could hardly wait for Thanksgiving to be over because I told him that we could put the Christmas tree up after Thanksgiving. So immediately after the big feast he of course asked me if it it Christmas time yet. We started decorating on December 1st and Jace isn't the only one that's excited for Christmas. I love having holidays with little ones. They make every tiny detail from the lights . .to the presents so much fun! I have been trying to find hiding places all over the house for presents . .the only problem is that Jace is extremely observant. He and his sister are asking Santa for a kitchen set this year so I already ordered it and picked it up the other day . .shhhh . .don't tell him! It's a huge box so at first I put it in the garage and wrapped towels all over it so he couldn't see but he immediately noticed the big box and wanted to know what it was so after he went to bed Craig and I took some time and hid the BIG box behind a whole bunch of bins at the back of the Garage . .I hope he doesn't find it. I'm SOOO excited . .I can't wait until Christmas morning to see his face . .for those that don't know Jace . .he is extremely expressive!!!! By the way, the chipmunk music is for Jace . .his favorite movie is the The Chipmunk Movie . .he is now running around the room soooo excited that the chipmunks know how to sing jingle bells. I LOVE CHRISTMAS!!!

I am the Activity Days leader for girls ages 8-11 for our ward and we had an activity last night. We made Christmas Countdowns (special thanks to my mom who I got the idea from). I made one for each of the kids and when I got home I showed Jace his Christmas Countdown (Brooke had to wait until morning because dad had already tucked her into bed). He was SO happy. He just kept saying "oh mommy, I LOVE it . .I just want to hold it. You are the bestest mommy ever" I hung both kids candy countdowns on their walls in their bedrooms. I had told Jace that once all the candy is gone then it would be time for Santa to come but he could only have one candy per day. I wasn't really worried about Brooke stealing candy because I had hung it high enough that she couldn't reach. Well, after she had her first taste of the treats she just kept reaching for the candy for more. Later that morning I heard her screaming and ran to her to see what had happened. She had gotten a little red children's chair out of Jace's room and pushed it up in front of where the candy was. She had climbed on top and from the looks of her dirty chocolate face, hands, and the wall around the countdown that was now 1/3 of the way gone she had figured a way to get the candy.
She kept falling off the chair though . .so after she got hurt twice and cut her lip once we had to take the candy countdowns off the wall and put them away. . .just too tempting!

Hi Heather, I loved reading your new updates on your blog. I'm glad you are already enjoying the Christmas season with your sweet kids. I put up our Christmas tree the day after Thanksgiving and put up some lights outside. Erik loves watching the tree turn around and we didn't put any ornaments on it this year! It only has tons of white lights and a gold chain garland and a few sparkly gold things poking out the top. It actually looks pretty but not so tempting to a 2 year old. I love you, thanks for sharing your life with us. We miss you. Love, Mom

Yeah, I could never wait for Christmas to come for my Christmas countdowns either...I usually made it at least two days before all the candy was gone. Mom and Julie got Kendal and Grant one when we visited them and theirs didn't last until dinner. They are just tooooo tempting!

That Brooke is one smart cookie!

Those candy countdowns look really cute! I'm the primary president in our ward and I would love to recommend something like that to our activity day leaders. Is there a website that has a tutorial for them or could you put a tutorial on your blog that shows us how to make them? So cute!
