First Day of School 2015/2016

Brooke Michelle Brammer
3rd Grade at Centerton Gamble Elementary
Teacher: Ms. Daniel

Oh miss Brookie bean!!  She couldn't have been more excited for school to start.  She missed being able to socialize all day long.  They are trying out something new at Centerton Gamble Elementary this year called 'A Round' and Brooke's teacher, Ms. Daniel from last yr is one of the teachers participating.  Basically, they have found that when kids keep the same teacher all through elementary the kids do better because they don't have to keep adjusting to different teaching styles. Now, this obviously only works if they do well with that teachers style of teaching in the first place.  At the end of last year we got a paper that needed to be signed and turned in if we wanted Brooke to have the same teacher this year.  Brooke and her best friend, Kate were super excited all summer long because they both signed the papers so they knew that they would be in the same class again.  The only problem was that when we went in for Meet the Teacher, to drop off her things, a few days before school started we found that they had made a mistake and put Brooke in a different class.  It wasn't an easy fix either because all the classes were full so she couldn't just move back in.  Kate was in tears and Brooke was on the verge.  We had to wait a few days to hear back but luckily Ms. Daniel made it happen for us.  Yay!!  2 happy girls again with the same teacher as last year.  Hopefully this year will be just as good.

A little about Brooke: I love how bright and colorful my Brookie girl looks today.  It totally expresses her zest for life and bright colorful personality.  She was totally into taking lots of pictures this morning (unlike her brother) and wanted especially to get a close up of her 'wild shoes' that she picked out with Nani and a picture of her riding the school bus.  She had the happiest smile on her face as the bus drove away.  :)  She LOVES friends.  She would play with friends all day everyday if she could. My little social butterfly. She still loves gymnastics and somersaults her way around the house daily.  She also wants to be in cheer and likes hip hop dancing.  I was hoping for a ballerina but that is totally NOT her thing. :)  She's turning into a little 'tweenager'.  She has traded Princesses in for Taylor Swift and loves taking selfies of herself with friends.  She's already told me all about her new crush since her last one moved away to Rogers.  Her new one sits behind her on the bus and she giggles and tells me all about the days that she talks to him and how she tells him that he's 'weird' all the time. lol!  She's even invited him over to our house several times.  I told her she's too young to be inviting crushes over. :)  Somehow wherever we go we end up seeing someone from her school and they all seem to know her.  One day she asked me how everyone knew her name even if she didn't know theirs.  Her teacher said kids gravitate towards her because of her positive, fun personality.  She had her interview with Bishop Becker for her baptism last night and they both came out laughing.  He told me she is a very fun little girl.  She just started Activity Days at church and loves that too.  Last week they made babysitting kits and talked about ideas of fun things to do with the kids.  She now wants to start practicing with Ty and Jenni and I said that would be a great idea while daddy and I take a Sunday nap.  She's turns everything into something fun.  Except for cleaning.  She hates cleaning and hates that she has to do her chores before playing with friends.  She can be a hard worker when she wants to though.  We love our Brookie girl.

Jace Craig Brammer
5th Grade at Ardis Anne Middle School
Homeroom teacher: Ms. Yarbrough

I didn't get a great picture of Jace before he left for school because it was a little chaotic getting everything and everyone ready this morning but I did snag one after he got off the bus in the afternoon.  It's so crazy to me that Jace and Brooke will be riding different buses and going to different schools from now on until Jace is a Jr. in High School ... that is if we end up staying here that long.  When Brooke goes into middle he will be going to Jr. High and when she gets there he will be going to the high school.  Craziness!!  We enjoyed going to the open house at Ardis Anne Middle.  It seems like a great school.  Jace seemed a little worried about all the class changes.  He is on Team Avengers which is a group of 4 main core classes/teachers and then he has Encore classes like art and P.E.   I LOVE the fact that he has P.E. every single day!  Exercise is good for the soul. I think there are 7 different classes during the day.  That is a lot.  Especially for someone that is less than organized.  When he came home after school he seemed overwhelmed so Craig took him for some one on one time that evening.  I put the other kids to bed and Jace wanted to go to the store to spend his money he earned from mowing the lawn.  When he came home I was lying in bed and he came running to me and gave me the biggest hug and then the tears started flowing.  I just held on to him.  He keeps feelings bottled up and usually doesn't show vulnerability so this was a very tender moment.  I was so happy I could just hold him.  He was just SO overwhelmed with school, his packed lunch had tasted funny (mayo had gone bad - oops!) so he didn't eat it but he didn't know what to do ... finally a teacher asked him about it and then had him get a school lunch but he didn't have much time left to eat it so he was hungry, the school bus was loud and disorganized and then they didn't have the toy he wanted at the store.  It was all just too much.  He didn't want to go back the next day

... but he did and the rest of the school week was great!  He LOVES school now more than ever.  His math teacher is a "dude" and someone he can totally relate to because he also likes video games, he's positive and does a joke of the day and treats the kids like equals so he loves that class and he's been super excited about doing hands on science experiments in Ms. Yarbroughs class.  He's been doing fantastic in P.E. and even won a t-shirt for being one of the top competitors in their yr beginning testing. He even told me that one of his friends keeps telling him that there is a girl on the bus that is "jamming on him".  He asked me what that meant and I said probably that she thinks he's cute.  He made a face and said "Oh know!!"  I feel like Jace is maturing so much lately.  He's really fun to be around and has such a quirky sense of humor.  He still teases his siblings but he's more connected with Craig and I and although he still tests boundaries he jokes more and wants to spend more time with us one on one.  It's been great!  I love this kid to the moon and back.  I hope this is a great year for him.

I little about Jace:  he still loves Minecraft & Terraria video games, he likes to connect with his friends and play together on our front porch.  He likes earning money.  He doesn't necessarily love doing the work though.  ... he's always negotiating prices and trying to get more for less. lol!  Hopefully that skill will help him in the business world later in life.  He loves playing soccer as a family in the back yard every night.  He's working on being a good sport.  :)  He loves his baby Jenni and plays with her and Ty everyday after school.  He's been super sweet to both of them since starting school.  He's been quick to get his homework, reading, and chores done each day so he can play on the iPad.  He doesn't love scouts which makes me sad.  I still make him go.  He is growing like a weed and I'm sure we will need lots of new pants by Christmas.  He eats like he has hollow legs.  He wants steak & hamburgers and loves watermelon.  I haven't been making him eat gluten and dairy free since he hasn't been breaking out in rashes or anything.  It gives him tummy aches sometimes but it's just not worth the fight.  If we wants to eat that way then he can.  Hopefully he will learn as he gets older that he feels better when he's eating healthier and that he recognizes he has sensitivities and allergies to some foods.  There seems to be no changing his mind about it right now.  He's on a lot of high quality vitamins that seem to help a lot though and he's been cooperative with taking them along with probiotics and fish oil.  He likes learning about the States and the history that goes along with them. I see him playing in the back yard with his friends a lot, shooting each other with nerf guns or jumping on the trampoline together.  He still has a hard time with Brooke.  They are either laughing hysterically together or fighting like cats and dogs.  He loves getting back massages during family scripture study and just gave a great FHE lesson on missionary work.  I'm so proud of my handsome 5th grader.
