Halloween & The Candy Witch

Little Miss Witch.  She was a 'good' witch this year for Halloween and couldn't have been more cute.  She was SO super excited about her school party and trick or treating.  Look at those eyelashes!!

Jace didn't get to dress up for school this year.  Apparently there were too many kids being pulled out of school in previous years for religious reasons because of the Halloween celebrations so they no longer dress up or have a party.  I can understand their reasoning but it still made me sad.  I LOVED  dressing up and parading around the school in costumes as a kid.  I looked forward to watching my kids in their class parades but it looks like that won't be happening.  Jace didn't get into his costume until right before we left for trick or treating so I didn't get any separate pictures of him.  He was an Air Force Pilot this year thanks to Aunt Julie and Uncle Ben, who provided the air suit, hat & dog tags.  I did take a couple of him at our ward Halloween party/trunk or treat last week.  Just he and I went since Brooke was sick.  He had so much fun at the fishing pond getting prizes.  It's always nice to have one on one time with each of your kids occasionally.  He's always so loving and well behaved when it's just the two of us.  He is one handsome little man!  In fact the other day a lady approached me and said that I should get him into modeling because he looks like he could be a Ralph Lauren model. lol  I laughed and told her that he just lost his top tooth and looks like a little homeless man as of lately.  Then she told me about how you can order flappers to cover lost teeth.  It was a really weird conversation.  I was flattered that she thinks Jace is so handsome though.  And I couldn't agree more.  I definitely have a VERY handsome kid. :)

Ty dressed up as a baby shark.  He looked adorable!!  He couldn't get enough of that sucker. Sugar, YUM!

Ready for trick or treat.  Brooke was bouncing off the walls in excitement. She TOTALLY reminds me of Junie B. Jones.  We read those books every night and Brooke just eats it up.  She always begs and begs for more chapters.  It cracks me up because her mindset is so much like Junie B.  Anyways, she just could not wait to get started and she's just about the most impatient child in the world.  I know, mom, I was like that too. :) I have to say that our neighborhood is ROCKIN' for Halloween.  Tons of people decorate and get really into it. Several houses do actual haunted houses that you have to go through to get your candy.  We skipped the one with the chainsaws & screaming teenagers but the kids were brave enough to go through one with me. After a very large and very scary Frankenstein got in Brooke's face and said "Hello" she hid her face in my shoulder and wouldn't look up until we got out.  After that she said that was WAY too scary for a little girl like her.  Ty chilled out in the jogger with his feet propped up eating a sucker.  He was in heaven and clapped his hands at everyone that passed by.  Jace was really funny.  He's very shy around strangers and had the hardest time actually saying "trick o treat".  After we had gone to about 5 houses I threatened to go home if he didn't remember to say thank you and stop walking through people's yards the rest of the night. He got a little flustered and told me that all this creepy stuff freaks him out and that he doesn't really like scary stuff or Halloween except for the candy part and that he kind of just wanted to go home except he really wants to get a lot of candy so he can sell it to the dentist office and make some money. Then he reminded me that he's not actually scared of any of it but he just thought it was dumb.  Which means he didn't want me to think that he was scared but he actually was and he truly doesn't like scary movies or anything remotely spooky or Gorey. He has a sensitive spirit and it just doesn't sit well with him. He did find a few costumes and decorations along the way that he thought were cool and by the end of it he was was so happy with all the candy he had collected that he wasn't even sure if he wanted to sell it to the dentist's office.  Hmmm... bummer.  I HATE having that much candy around and my kids get cavities easily.

At the end of the night Brooke informed me that she was going to leave her candy for "The candy witch!! Because I heard that if you leave your candy under your bed, only on Halloween, that she'll take it and leave a prize instead.  You thought I forgot about that lady but I've been thinking about her all year long.  That candy witch.  I didn't forget.  I bet that witch LOVES candy and has rotten, smelly teeth. I don't want to see her cuz I might get scared."  I quickly put the kids to bed and ran to the store to get a prize to trade for Brooke's candy.  He he heeee,  cuz I'm the candy witch!  (insert cackling laughter). Happy Halloween.

What a fun Halloween you have had! I hope the candy witch found the candy under the bed...and that no one changed their mind. Your kids look adorable.
